Academic bridge between Krakow and Brasov - visit to UPJPII
On 24-27 February 2025, Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow, as part of the STT mobility of the Erasmus+ Programme, hosted Aurélie Lalau - a representative of Transylvania University of Brasov. The visit was an opportunity to exchange experiences, learn about the functioning of the university and discuss the possibilities of cooperation.
The first day started with a meeting at the International Cooperation Office, where over coffee they discussed the activities of the office, the challenges of international academic cooperation and exchange programmes for students and staff.
The guests then visited the exhibition ‘Treasures of the Krakow Chapter’, where they had the opportunity to see valuable artefacts related to Krakow's history and church heritage. Next on the agenda was a guided tour of the campus, including a visit to the library and archives, which are an important centre for scientific and historical resources. Tomasz Kniaź - Head of BWM - was the guide and was accompanied by Urszula Leszyńska - Exit Mobility Coordinator. After a joint lunch, a meeting was held in the Rector's Office, where, together with Małgorzata Chudzio - Secretary of the Rector's Office, possibilities for further cooperation between the universities were discussed.
The second day of the visit focused on modern technologies and academic administration. At the Academic Media Centre (ACM), the guest had the opportunity to see: the television studio, where academic and student productions are made; the VR and behavioural research laboratory, used for innovative media and communication research; and the radio studio, which is the venue for student and academic broadcasts. Aleksandra Mirek-Rogowska, a lecturer at the Faculty of Communication Sciences and External Expert at BWM, was the guide.
Another item on the agenda was a visit to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, where topics related to the organisation of the university were discussed with Aleksandra Pisarska. Among the topics discussed were the recruitment process, both for domestic and international students; digital student service systems to facilitate academic administration; and support for international students, including adaptation and integration in the new academic environment.
The visit was an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and establish closer relations between the universities. We thank our guest from Brasov for the inspiring meetings and look forward to further fruitful cooperation!
