Memories of Erasmus at UPJPII

Reflections of international students from their time at UPJPII

(...) After more or less one year of Erasmus+ project in Krakow I can easily assure that our schedule was in both semesters full of an interesting variety of courses we could choose. Especially about the subject of journalism and communication, it’s an experience that I recommend to new students to do: ways of studying are a perfect mixture of theory and practice (...)

(...) All the events were really nice, I just had to be grateful for all the extra-offers we had from UPJP2 and his amazing staff. I didn’t even imagine that they would organize so many events just for us during the academic year. It was a great occasion to go deeper in the cultural history of the city you’re living everyday thanks to the Erasmus+ project, and always with a good company. I didn’t miss even one meeting.  (...)

(...) Well, comparing to my hometown, here we were just a few students, so was pretty impossible to not feel part of the university community. That allowed also the Erasmus+ staff to have easier efforts in supporting us. Sometimes I can miss my “chaotic” environment, typical of my city, but at least here I had the feeling that everything was under control, sooo……not so bad! (...)

Alberto, Italy

(... ) It was a big surprise for me. I always heard about Erasmus students that don’t receive help at all from their universities offices so I was expecting the same but with me was the opposite. I thing a positive side is that since we were not a lot of Erasmus they really care about each one of us, and from my experience was really nice, they help me not only with the normal things of the university but also with personal problems related to my first house and also when I was sick. The relation with the people that work in the office was really nice, quite informal, and they threat us really well since the beginning.  (...)

(...) The cultural programme was perfect. The orientation days and all that the university organised to us was really nice, and I only have good points about that. The best moment was undoubtedly the Christmas dinner. (...)

(...) Studying in Cracow was really good. Was my first time abroad, and even if wasn’t my first option, I didn’t regret at all. The city is nice to do Erasmus because is not so big so I could go always walking to the university to home and that was really good, so I didn’t had to take a lot of bus or tram because general way everything was close(...)

Jose, Portugal

(...) Regarding the lessons that I attended,  I really liked the method because it involved the  whole class and "forced" everyone to get involved and to say their opinion; this was a different aspect from Italy that I really liked. I will take home not only useful didactic material (the course "Contemporary problems in Ethics " for example dealt with very considerable and sensible aspect of ordinary life) but also an example of human and bilateral relationship  with professors. I will remember this period of my youth and school career for the rest of my life!!

Giulia, Italy

(...) One of the best memory was the Polish Christmas dinner with all the Erasmus students of our University. I don't know the exactly name of the restaurant but I will always remember our rector who changed languages of speaking in few second, passing from Italian to German, from Spanish to English; just amazing! The party allowed us to get in touch and establish good relationships despite our geographical distances. (...)

Francesco, Italy

(...) I chose the University of John Paul II not only because there is a cooperation with my German university but because Krakau has this special charm that is not found in many cities. Besides that I wanted to know how theology is taught in this place and must say that I am impressed by most of the professors, the way they teach and what they say. One of my favourite subjects was "The convincing power of God's mercy", which was specially created for the year of mercy. (...)

Agnes, Germany

(... ) I think that the UPJPII has a really good facilities. I had the possibility to visit many times tv/radio studio with my teachers and I was surprised to find such a lot of tools and new technologies. (...)

Maria Denise, Italy

(... ) I think Cracow is one of the best cities from all Europe to study one year. The student ambient is so nice, and the city is well prepared for students. (... )

(... ) I think the courses are really good. It is quite difference than Spain. The courses here increase you to participate more, and it is more practical. (... )

Guillermo, Spain

(... ) In general, I believe that the erasmus is an excellent occasion in the life of any university students. Anywhere they go, the opportunities of growth and the experiences that has be done, are unbelievable. I have discovered here in Poland a different world from mine, a different culture and different traditions. What someone lives on his own skin, it can never be forgotten. I want to recommend to everybody an experience as the erasmus, and if you will have the fortune to come to study in this university and in this city, you won't remain in some way disappointed. (... )

Pierluigi, Italy

(... ) Reflecting on my time here I would have to say that I really enjoyed it. Everybody at UPJPII was so friendly. Throughout the Erasmus and especially in the first weeks, all of the mentors were amazing and supported us so much. Also all of the teachers gave very good classes and I learned a lot. Krakow was and unforgettable experience, I totally fell in love with the city and it will always hold a place in my heart.   (... )

(... ) I studied philosophy here. I have to admit that I’m satisfied with being and studying here. The lectures are very interesting and I’ve learned a lot. The university students are really helpful, friendly and kind. The atmosphere is unforgettable. I can sincerely recommend the Pontifical University of John Paul II to other Erasmus students    (... )

Martin, Slovakia

(... ) Atmosphere at UPJPII is familiar, what I really appreciate. Krakow as a city, really surprised me. I was a student of Journalism and I think studies in Krakow offered to me something new. I will recommend Erasmus in Krakow to everyone because I feel comfortable here and I also met new, interesting people. I will surely visit Krakow again(... )

Peter, Slovakia

(... ) I spent in Krakow nine amazing month. In this period I really learned a lot of things in class and the most in the common life with other Erasmus and Polish students. The University was really nice. All the teachers and students helped us a lot and all of them teach us useful things for life(... )

Nuria, Spain

(... ) Krakow is a beautiful city, full with beautiful people! I have the fondest of memories, from visiting Zakopane to simply wandering around the Jewish Quarter. I loved the courses you offered and the lecturers were so helpful and friendly. I have learned a lot here and I’m very grateful for the opportunity. Hope to return in the fututr (... )
