Representatives of UPJPII at the European Alliances Forum in Wrocław

On 12 and 13 June 2025, the European University Alliances Forum was held in Wrocław. The meeting was one of the last important events resulting from the Polish Presidency of the EU Council, and the University of Wrocław was entrusted with the role of the host of the forum. The Pontifical University of John Paul II in Kraków was represented by Rev. Dr. Hab. Andrzej Kielian, Vice-Rector for Internationalization, and Mr. Tomasz Kniaź, Head of the International Cooperation Office.

The meeting was attended by representatives of over 570 universities from all over Europe, as well as the European Commission and the European Parliament. Key topics concerned the role of European alliances in shaping higher education, challenges and valuable initiatives, both those implemented and planned (e.g. European diploma, joint programs). The directions of development of the "Union of Skills" initiative, challenges related to the development of innovation, prospects for long-term financing of the European Universities Initiative, as well as cooperation between universities and socio-economic institutions were widely discussed.
