New horizons of cooperation - visit of guests from Malta within the Erasmus+ program
On 23-27 June 2025, as part of the Erasmus+ programme (KA131, STT), we hosted Ms. Ruth Azzopardi and Ms. Lucienne Vella from the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) in Malta. The aim of the visit was to exchange experiences related to the organisation of work at universities and to establish prospects for joint activities.
The meeting with representatives of the Faculty of History and Cultural Heritage (WHiDK), prof. Lucyna Rotter, who is the head of the historical tourism programme, and Andrzej Giza, PhD, proved particularly fruitful. Historical and cultural projects implemented at both universities were presented and the possibilities of scientific cooperation, organisation of lectures by visiting professors and conducting student exchange under the Erasmus+ programme were discussed. During the meeting, an outline of a new initiative was created concerning research on the presence of elements of Polish culture in Malta and Maltese culture in Poland.
The exchange of experiences between our guests and lecturers from the Inter-Faculty Centre for Foreign Languages also proved valuable. The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the most effective ways of organizing language teaching, to share the successes and challenges faced by lecturers in both institutions. Thanks to the courtesy of Aleksandra Mirek-Rogowska, PhD, Ms. Ruth and Ms. Lucienne were shown around the university building at Franciszkańska 1 and familiarized themselves with modern teaching methods at the Faculty of Communication Sciences. The team from the International Cooperation Office presented the collections of the Main Library. As part of the cultural program, guests had the opportunity to visit Wawel.
