Ceremony at Bethlehem University
On October 21, 2022, a delegation from the University took part in an amazing event in Bethlehem. As part of Bethlehem University's 50th anniversary celebrations, the University authorities decided to open the celebrations with a ceremony naming the University library after Stanislaw and Halina Zbierski.
The ceremony was opened by Bethlehem University Vice Chancellor - Brother Peter Bray, FSC, EdD. Then, in her speech, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Zbierski - Prof. Suava (Slawomira) Zbierski-Salameh, who is a member of the International Board of Regents of Bethlehem University, recalled the profiles and achievements of her great parents. A congratulatory letter from Prof. Bart J. McGetrick - Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bethlehem University - was read. Also speaking were H.E. Przemyslaw Czyz, head of the Polish diplomatic mission in Palestine, Elizabeth Dsouza - Director of the Library, and and the Rector of UPJPII - Rev. Prof. Robert Tyrała.
The ceremony of blessing the Library and unveiling of the memorial plaque was followed by the ceremonial signing of a memorandum of understanding by the Authorities of the two Universities, outlining the framework of scientific, teaching and cultural cooperation, of which the Bethlehem ceremony was the first chapter.
The event was highlighted by a performance by the university choir Psalmodia, composed of: Julia Ilczuk, Natalia Kunikowska, Sr. Wanda Putyra, Gabriela Woronkow, Patryk Gębica, Dawid Rzepka, Bartłomiej Szatko and Marek Pawełek - organ.
There were also soloists Adam Michalak - tenor, Mariusz Monczak - violin. The concert was conducted by maestro Professor Włodzimierz Siedlik.
The celebration ended with an exhibition presenting the Library's new patrons - Mr. and Mrs. Zbierski - great Poles, underground activists, promoters and organizers of education in Poland.
