Electronic Student ID Card

Student card | visitPOLAND

Here, in Poland, you can get discounts, cheaper prices and many other privileges almost everywhere if you are a student. During the following academic year you are going to be a part of our student's body and you will be given for this reason an electronic Student Card (Legitymacja Studencka). It will be also necessary for you to prove that you belong to UPJPII in the event of any official questioning. Also, with your SC you are allowed to check out books at the library.

Erasmus students

You should upload your photo when you are applying for Erasmus mobility at UPJPII in IRK system, right after you have received the notification about your acceptance. Remember that your photo must meet certain technical requirements (HERE). After that, here at the University, you can pick up your Student ID Card from the International Office after paying the required fee.

What is ELS?

ELS (Electronic Student Identity Card) is an identification document of the student.

It meets the requirements set out in the Ordinance of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of September 14, 2011 in the law of documentation for the course of studies (Journal of Laws No. 201, item 1188, as amended). It is equipped with a contact and proximity interface.

All students receive a student identity card (a photograph is needed to obtain the document) entitling them to a 50% discount on public transport in the city (regardless of age) and a 37% discount on national railways (only when they are under 26). The card also entitles the student to access the university library, sports centres and other facilities, and to discounted tickets to cinemas, theatres and museums

The right to its possession is granted to university students up to the date of graduation, suspension of student rights or deletion from the list of students. The validity of the card is confirmed every semester by updating the data in the electronic system and placing the hologram in the marked fields.

The personal data of its owner are printed on ELS: name, surname, PESEL number, address, album number (index). The same data is stored electronically in the memory of the ID card. The card also stores information about the expiration date of ELS, which is visually marked by holograms placed on the back. Holograms are useful wherever it is not possible to read the electronic information gathered on the card - for example when checking tickets on the train.

Student card

A student card is a document confirming student status (it also entitles to discounts on public transport). It includes basic personal details and a photograph. Remember that the student card is usually valid for one semester. After that period, it loses the ability to confirm that you are a student – unless it is extended.

Expiry date

To make sure that the student card is valid, you should look at its reverse and check the date on the hologram. Your student card will obtain new holograms with subsequent renewals, and the most recent one is crucial.
